According to some ”inside information”, a trial on his release is scheduled for the beginning of March, pending the decision by the Cour de Cassation. The mysterious prison release document which Dr. Hamer was supposed to sign (but was not allowed to keep, not even as a copy) has vanished suddenly and inexplicably. Signing this paper, as recommended by his lawyer, would also have implied a partial admission of his guilt. Obviously this was a trick. Well, how is Dr. Hamer doing? The cells are still unheated. Temperatures are chilly during the day, more so at night, which means that Dr. Hamer is forced to sleep in all his clothes, otherwise he would not be able to tolerate the cold. At least he has received a few pieces of warm clothing. He also complained in writing about some conditions to the President of the Court. This has led to some improvements. He no longer has to remove his underwear during the obligatory body searches after each visit (even his lawyers’). His children have finally been given permission to see him. He is now even allowed to receive the books previously withheld from him. All this goes to show that his treatment was, simply put, pure harassment. Other than that, his condition is good. He is eager to hear the verdict from the Cour de Cassation. Dr. Hamer has a new lawyer now who even speaks German and whose mandate will be to settle some matters that had been neglected so far. Clearly nothing seems to be left to chance in Dr. Hamer’s ”case” – a ”summons to a hearing” was served by the prosecutor’s office in Leipzig back in December (although Dr. Hamer had already been arrested in France; perhaps a precautionary measure?) and sent to his home address where it was acknowledged by his partner. Even if Dr. Hamer has received no official word of all this, it is not impossible that he may be deported to Germany or brought to Leipzig for a court examination. Anything goes with a Euro order. Let us be surprised what will happen! One thing is for certain, though: Dr. Hamer will celebrate his birthday on May 17. As you know, we would like to present him with a book and very special congratulations. The book is, of course, not meant to be a collection of clinical cases but rather a collection of stories and anecdotes about Dr. Hamer and will include congratulatory messages and thank-you letters. If you wish to add your personal message you still have the occasion to do so. Please keep in mind that only one such book will be created for Dr. Hamer.
